"Mike was a very nice young man. If it wasn’t for Jim Jacobs, the fight probably wouldn’t have been made. Jim gave me an opportunity because he felt I deserved it. Mike was coming up, he was creaming everybody, knocking ’em dead. He was a gladiator. I was 29, he was 20. I was training at the Ruby Street gym in L.A with Ken Norton and Scrap Iron Johnson. I exchanged punches with my sparring partner and my right shoulder popped. I went to a chiropractor and he told me to put some ice on it and come back in a few days. I continued to work, but every time I worked my shoulder, it would pop out. I called Angelo and told him, ‘Angelo, my shoulder keeps popping out, I don’t know what’s going on with it.’ He said, ‘Pull out the fight.’ I said, ‘No, I’m not pulling out this fight. I’m willing to fight.’ Mike was beating everybody and I thought I could beat him with my left hand. Mike came out steaming and I was anticipating that. After I got through the first and second round, I thought, ‘I’m in good shape now.’ With my experience I was doing what I needed to do, but unfortunately my shoulder popped out and my glove split. I don’t make no big deal about that, Mike’s a good fighter, he did what he had to do. I got dropped, but I got up because I didn’t want to be counted out. I’ve got a lot of respect for Mike. I think he was a great champion."

Tyson, who is 30 years older than his opponent, is among the greatest boxers of all time and the first heavyweight to simultaneously hold the WBA, WBC and IBF titles. He has not fought in a competitive bought since 2005, however.

"It was great in Tokyo, but you got the sense nobody was taking it seriously. I never doubted it at all. I knew it was my time. Leading up to the first title fight in 87′, I was actually given a pretty decent chance of winning the fight. Losing that fight really made it seem like, ‘He might as well pack it in. I don’t know what he’s fighting for.’ Then coming back around and getting a title shot against Godzilla, was like, ‘Oh my God, he’s really gonna kill himself!’ Succeeding was the ultimate, ‘I told you so.’ Tyson was a student of the game, was in there til’ the end, showed a lot of savvy."

Like 'Iron Mike', Etienne was viewed as a dangerous puncher. Having learned to box while in prison for attempted armed robbery, he had built a 24-1-1 pro record – scoring 17 KOs along the way, including 11 in the first round.

The first teaser trailer was released online in February 2011. The first full trailer was released in April 2011. Later in the same month Warner Bros. pulled the trailer from theaters for violating an MPAA rule stating that films can only trailer before similarly rated movies. The trailer for the R-rated comedy was being promoted at screenings for the PG-13-rated Source Code against MPAA regulations. Warner Bros. released a statement saying, "In our haste to meet the placement schedule for this trailer, we failed to properly vet the final version with the MPAA. We acted immediately to correct the mistake and removed the trailer from screens".

The tattooing process itself was a serious undertaking, with Tyson enduring hours of pain to complete the intricate design. Despite the discomfort, Tyson remained determined to see the tattoo through to completion.

For the audience, The Hangover was a funny but ultimately silly film. For Mike Tyson, however, it took on much more meaning. As Tyson expressed in his autobiography of the cast and director, "I was so grateful for what they had done for me" (538).

The range of material that individuals and businesses are seeking to get copyright protection for has only been expanding, often at the insistence of movie studios. Mattel has gone to court to assert the copyright of the face of its Barbie doll; fashion companies have been lobbying Congress to pass a law to protect unique, nontrivial new designs. And trademark, which is governed by different laws and is much more contextual, has been used by athletes and coaches to get a measure of control over terms like "three-peat" or "Revis Island."

Now it might be possible that the filmmakers could use some CGI magic to change the design of the tattoo for the DVD and television release of the film and I’m sure they are looking into that possibility right now. But I’m guessing that there will be a confidential settlement between the parties sometime this summer. And that tattoo will become one of the most expensive pieces of art in history.
