6.5 Ball Driven off the Table The only jumped object ball that is spotted is the ten. A ball is also considered driven off the table if it would have been driven off the table except for striking an object such as a light fixture, piece of chalk or a player which causes it to return to the table. None of the energy is converted to other types of energy, such as heat or light. Example: A hitter reacting to a breaking pitch; a drag racer timing acceleration to the green light. Example: Derek Jeter, Mia Hamm. Example: High-board divers, race-car drivers, ski jumpers. The first (break) shot must contact a red ball initially. A player shoots until he fails to pocket a ball or fouls. If the shooter exceeds the time limit specified for the tournament, a standard foul will be called and the incoming player is rewarded according to the rules applicable to the game being played. UK standard pool tables are 7ft in length, but come in 6ft and 8ft too, (unlike American pool tables, with their standard tournament table size being 9ft). UK pool tables use napped felt, which causes friction and slows down the balls.

It may be that a tournament is being played with "area" referees who are each responsible for several tables and there is no referee constantly at each table. A shot clock may be requested at any time during a match by a tournament official or either player involved in that match. If the player does not speed up, the referee may impose a shot clock on that match that applies to both players. The game is easy for anyone to start playing, so pick up a cue and line up your first shot. The game arose, presumably in India, as a pastime for soldiers in the 1870s. Snooker is played with 22 balls, made up of one white ball (the cue ball); 15 red balls, valued at 1 point each; one yellow, 2 points; one green, 3; one brown, 4; one blue, 5; one pink, 6; and one black, 7. Players try to pocket first the red and then the nonred balls, scoring one point for each red and the number value of the others. To begin, the balls are arranged as follows: all reds in a pyramid with its apex on the pyramid spot; black on the billiard spot near the foot of the table; pink touching the apex of the pyramid; blue at the center spot; and green, brown, and yellow at the left, center, and right of the straight line of the D, a semicircular area at the head of the table.

Table cushions should influence the speed of the table such that with placement of a ball on the head spot, shooting through the foot spot, using center ball english, with a level cue and firm stroke, the ball must travel a minimum of 4 to 4 ½ lengths of the table without jumping. The position of a ball is determined by the projection of its center vertically downward onto the playing surface. The term snooker denotes a position of the cue ball from which the player is unable to hit the ball that the rules require one to play. They are typically numbered from one to the number of balls used in the game. The non-breaking player may accept the balls in position or may require the breaker to play another opening break shot, until he satisfies the requirements for an opening break or the non-shooting player accepts the table in position.

It may be inferred that it developed from a variety of games in which propelling a ball was a main feature. You should not pocket any other ball aside from the one you selected. Other games that fall under this term include 9 Ball Pool, Snooker, what is billiards and One Pocket. The aim is to strike the white cue ball so that it strikes the coloured and pink balls in turn and causes them to fall into one of the six pockets. Snooker is played using twenty-two balls, one of which is the striker ball, which is white. Snooker tables use a similar cloth to pool tables. Two other popular titles in this category are Cue Billiard Club and Pool Club. In pocket billiard games, a single cue ball is used by both players. When a player commits a scratch, the opposition may place the ball wherever they want on the table in our Coolmath Games version of Billiards. He may use his own bridge if it is similar to standard bridges. All the three games involve the use of a cue stick and balls over a table covered in cloth with rubberised or leather cushions on the edges.
