If you are an avid coffee drinker, you should consider visiting a cheap Coffee beans shop. They offer a wide selection of whole beans from around the world. They also have unique kitchenware and trinkets.

When you enter this old-fashioned West Village shop, the scent of freshly roasted beans fills your nose. The shelves are packed with jars, sacks and dark brown beans, along with coffee-making equipment, tea accessories, and sugar.

Porto Rico, originally opened in 1907 by Italian immigrant Patsy Albonese. At the time, Greenwich Village was seeing an influx of Italian immigrants who established businesses to serve their culinary needs. Albanese named her shop after the famous Puerto Rican coffee she imported (and sold) the beverage was so famous at the time that even the Pope consumed it.

Today, Porto Rico sells 130 varieties of beans from around the globe at three locations in New York City including their Bleecker Street location, Essex Market and online. The company also roasts its own beans and offers wholesale distribution to 350 restaurants in NYC and Brooklyn.

Peter Longo, current owner and president, was raised in the family bakery on Bleecker Street, where his father was the owner of Porto Rico. He continues to run the shop in the same manner as his grandfather and father.

Sey Coffee

Sey Coffee, a coffee roaster and shop is located on Grattan Street, in Morgantown. The neighborhood, which is part of Brooklyn's Bushwick district, is located on Grattan Street. Co-founders Tobin Polk and Lance Schnorenberg, both 33, started roasting in a fourth-floor loft around the corner from their new store in 2011 under the name Lofted Coffee (with local clients including Greenpoint's Budin and Soho cart service Peddler).

Sey's decision to buy micro-lots or whole harvests, from single farmers has earned it the acclaim of New York City coffee enthusiasts. In 2011, Sey purchased a six-bag micro lot of Danilo Dones Sitio Catucai, a Brazilian coffee from the Espirito-Santo region. The beans were hand-picked at the peak of ripeness, then floated to eliminate any defects and dried fermented for about 36 hours before being dried on the farm. The result is a coffee with hints of berry, lemongrass and melon.

Sey's goal of holistically improving the health of staff, customers, and growers extends beyond the store. It utilizes biodegradable disposables as well as composts to keep waste out of garbage and converting it into agents that reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions and feed the soil. It also does away with gratuity, which puts baristas in a position to sustain their livelihoods and encourage them to focus on their craft.

La Cabra

La Cabra, a modern specialty-coffee company, was founded in Aarhus in Denmark in 2012. It started with a small shop and a team of dedicated employees. The East Village store opened last October, with a minimalist and sleek design. It's been praised by coffee lovers for its precise pour-overs and baked goods, which are overseen by head baker Jared Sexton, who's previously worked at Bien Cuit and Dominique Ansel.

The shop employs a La Marzocco modbar and the plates and cups are designed by Wurtz ceramics in Horsens, a father and son studio. In a recent Q&A session with Atlanta Coffee Shops, General Manager Ian Walla reveals that La Cabra serves approximately 250 different coffees a year, and typically has seven or eight different varieties available at any given point.

The Roasting Plant Coffee

The Roasting Plant is the only multi-unit coffee retailer that roasts its own coffee and brews on demand, with every cup of coffee being roasted and brewed to your specifications in less than one minute. It searches far and far to find the finest, directly sourced specialty beans that provide customers with a choice and high-quality.

The roaster on site uses fluid bed technology that is a bit different to the drum-type machines that are commonly used in most UK coffee shops. The beans are blown in the heated box using high-speed, circulating air. This keeps the beans in suspension and allows for a constant roasting rate.

I tried the Sumatran Coffee and it was rich and velvety with a velvety flavor. Dark chocolate was evident from the aroma, and as you sipped the coffee, you could detect subtle citrus fruit aromas.

The coffee that has been roasted will be transferred to the store's Eversys Super-Automatic brewing Machines, and brewed to your preferences within less than a minute. Customers can select from nine single origins as well as several blends.
